We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Veteran's Freedom Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed park featuring a lake, trails through the woods, rolling hills, a tennis court and picnic tables.
What runners say about Veteran's Freedom Park
“Little things are well maintained: parking is easy, even the porta potty seeks to be cleaned regularly.”
“One of the most beautiful places I have ever been in the USA.”
“You stroll towards the pond for five minutes and will get a a sign for well marked trail.”
“Opportunities to watch wild life and enjoy peaceful.”
“The major drawback is dog walkers allowing their dogs off leash.”
I came here for the first time looking for a park for a morning walk. Parked car at the park. You stroll towards the pond for five minutes and will get a a sign for well marked trail. (John F Malley trail). We took on the right side and kept walking for 30 min and then returned back. Saw many people with their dogs.
An excellent place for a hike or run (or ski in winter). Dogs are welcome when there are no sports team events going on. The trails are well-marked and diverse. You can explore pine forest, hardwood forest, field, shoreline and the Assabet River.
Beautiful location, great hike with no crowd. Opportunities to watch wild life and enjoy peaceful.
Good park for being active. Important to note it is a park and not a playground, no slides or a swing set! There is a well paved tennis court, a large field, and the start to a trail along Mill Pond. Little things are well maintained: parking is easy, even the porta potty seeks to be cleaned regularly.
