Confirmed from Walker Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Walker Preserve
“Enchanting nature preserve that’s quietly tucked away in beautiful Normandy Park.”
“I was so profoundly happy to find a park that was still pristine, peaceful, and though close to houses still feels so far away.”
This is a nice, well-maintained short trail system (approximately 1-1.5 miles) on a ridge between two creeks. The main loop trail stays flat but there are short side loops and spurs (highly recommended) that lead down to each creek. As of April 4 the trilliums were in bloom.
Peaceful and quiet, great place to wander or just do the trail loop to get outside. Sometimes you might find a little surprise lol a painted rock or fired glass piece left by a lovely local
Definitely the most natural hiking area around Normandy park other than Marine View park and a lot of cool views of the creeks and big beautiful tress covered in moss and licorice fern.
First time on the trail every time you turn around every time you turn around you have a surprise be ready for mud

“This is a sweet place to just go for a nice walk some of the way it could be a little bit ruff just be careful walking as the ground is not level everywhere,”
“There is no parking so you will not see many people besides few locals.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
