Confirmed from Wasatch Hollow Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Part of the wasatch hollow preserve, this is a great place to spend the day. There is a dog park, kids play area, plenty of benches, pavilions, and picnic benches. There is a nature trail. I highly recommend this place. My son and I loved our first visit. We will be back.

This place is accessed from the Westside of sugarhouse Park. You enter under an overpass and come out to a secluded forest environment while being surrounded by city life on both sides.

A lovely little getaway from the city! This preserve/park has lots of trails running through it, with several creek access areas. Quiet, hidden spot that makes you feel like you're in the woods. The actual preserve area is not dog friendly, but the rest of the park is. No dogs allowed in the preserve.

It's now beautiful greenspace in the city., but for many years this places' reputation was summed up in its slang name: "Dog Poop Park". But then the park was expanded to include the trails out to the north along Emigration Creek and a childrens play area added.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
