Confirmed from West Hills Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“I highly recommend this amazing and peaceful oasis to anyone who is looking to center their mind and find inspiration to for something they are looking for in their life.”

It's very large and supposedly haunted. It's not very difficult to hike just a few inclines. It has a very spooky vibe it's nice.

A LOT OF BUGS AND (HORSE?) POOP! It's good to walk your dog but it's a little easy to get lost. Not a lot of trail markings. Lots of roots and mud. It is fun when it's before bug season lol my dog likes coming but a lot of turns you can't see if anyone's coming until they're very close which is a little hard if you're…

Beautiful Park! West Hills Park is a hidden gem. I really enjoyed the peaceful trails and the wide-open green acreage — perfect for a relaxing walk, connecting with nature, or just unwinding. It’s clean, well-kept, and has a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 14 mentions

“An expansive park with hiking, dog runs, picnic areas and open fields to accommodate any number of outdoor activities.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
