We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of West Hills Preserve Trail Head yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about West Hills Preserve Trail Head
Lots of trails in this south area of the preserve. Right across the road from the trailhead is a small dirt parking area (picture). Trails are good and undoubtedly neat for running, but we tried to take a off-road stroller along them and had pretty rough going, especially in the steep bits.
Moderate trail. Good for kids 5+. There's multiple trails leading different directions but eventually leads to the same route. Some steep inclines but nothing crazy and it's only some routes if you choose. No ticks witnessed but it's definitely possible dependent on time of year. Not too populated today.
