Confirmed from West Ridge Trail MTB's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking and mountain biking area crisscrossed by rugged trails with views of the hills and the ocean.
What runners say about West Ridge Trail MTB
“Fairly busy trail, great views and some fun side trails if you have the time and energy 😍☺️☺️”
It's best to do this hike when it's not too hot. There is no shade at all on this trail and since parts are quite steep. It's got great views of the hills and the ocean when you get to the top.
We hike this trail every week, normally Saturday and sometimes Sunday. It's a great walk with the Top Of The World park as a prize when you reach the top and turn around to head back. The trail is a firebreak road so it's wide.
Great mountain biking trails! Very well kept, it can get a little crowded Saturday and Sunday mornings but trails are totally worth it. Make sure you check the maps and know the difficulty of each trail. Also, there are a lot of cactus groves so be aware and careful.
Great little hike to the top of the world, a bit easier than the Canyon Loop Trail but the end results are the same. Fairly busy trail, great views and some fun side trails if you have the time and energy 😍☺️☺️

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
