Confirmed from Whistler Woods Forest Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Tranquil green space on the Little Calumet River, with walking trails & picnic spots.
What runners say about Whistler Woods Forest Preserve
“Nice place to go to relax and very neat and very clean.”
“Great for a nice walk and viewing all of the beautiful scenery.”
Great place to go volunteer if you have the time. The trails are really starting to take shape and the years of neglect are being reversed nicely.
Drive all the way to end and park then walk into the circle and toward the trail follow the trail to the river and back for a pleasant walk there is an annoying industry place near the bridge unfortunately. Hopefully one day it’s gone.
A very serene place. Great for a nice walk and viewing all of the beautiful scenery. Biking and running also is allowed.
Beautiful park, clean and expansive. Lots of trees, birds, wildlife. Big picnic areas with tons of parking and picnic tables for relaxing. Trails run through the park. Very nice spot.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
