Confirmed from Winnekenni Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This place is so lovely with plenty of trails and nature and old ruins and of course the magnificent castle. The trails are easily accessible and pretty flat. The views of the lake and adjacent plug pond are breathtaking. Fairly easy hiking.

One of my favorite places to come for a walk! There's a playground, grass for the dogs, plenty of walking/ hiking/ biking trails, restrooms, tennis courts, picnic tables, and a castle at the top! Stop in when you can.

This a park with a pond with ducks and geese. There is a small playground, a large grassy area with several benches. It has an on site parking lot. There are several walking trails around the pond. Dogs are welcome.

★★★★★ — David , Jun 2023

We did 4.75 miles in 2 hours and 10 minutes. A perfect 70 degree day, overcast with no bugs. Most of the trail is wide. Lots of poison ivy but off the sides of the trail. We saw four swans, a few frogs, some geese and ducks. Plenty of parking available near the tennis courts or Merrill Park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
