Confirmed from Wood Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Pretty park with a playground, plus a band shell for concerts and an Assabet River-side walking bridge.
What runners say about Wood Park
“Nicely maintained park with playground for kids, a bandstand, and a river next to it with a nice footbridge going to the other side.”
“There is a beautiful shell like theater here I have not yet had the pleasure of hearing music yet but soon I hope ☺️”
“It's quiet and the playground is little but just right with lots of room to run on the grass.”
A lovely little park. There's a nice bandstand area for summer concerts as well as a decent sized gazebo with picnic table and benches. A nice little path and bridge for a short walking trail that goes out to the Portuguese Club where you can often see plenty of turtles and heron/cranes along the way.
Nice place with nice views plenty of grassy space to walk around and there is a performance stage there where they locked area. The day I went there I had no access to the stage power to plug in my stuff probably because you need to call in advance and make some kind of appointment.
Great open park. Love the music shell. The kids love the play area. We love walking over the bridge. Still has picnic tables if you wanted to have lunch. We wish they were little closer to play ground. Always pretty clean park.
A nice place to walk your dog. I saw families with small children. It's close to downtown and the Assabet river runs through it. I saw a heron at the waters edge, and on another day a bufflehead duck. Park was founded in 1918.
Trail conditions & character
“Nice place with nice views plenty of grassy space to walk around and there is a performance stage there where they locked area.”
“Also the other play equipment is a little limited and really only good for slightly older toddlers as it isn't shaded and the slide gets quite hot in the summer.”
“No restrooms either but as of 2016 there is a portaloo behind the bandstand”
“It's quiet and the playground is little but just right with lots of room to run on the grass.”
“Not much parking either, so it can be a little tricky on summer concert nights as the park is on the edge of town.”
