Confirmed from Yost Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Yost Park
“Nice park with trails through a beautiful forested area.”
The best trail combo would probably be sword fern to shell creek. Shell creek offers the most fun hike with a small creeks, lots of small bridges and wooden walkways. Sword fern offers the path with the most gentle elevation change to shell creek.
Great local park. In past years the barred owls would swoop down and rake the top of your head with their talons, but I think that resident rascal has moved on. The Overlook Trail route in the southeast corner is really good for high intensity training, it's 125ish steps of steep incline that I'll go up and down 5-10x…
I love the fun to explore steep magical wooded trails, small creek trickling, wow, a small hidden gem, peace and calm, lovely pool for lap swim and play!! The CRAZY EXCEPTION is BLARING MUSIC that erupts and echoes from the pool. Staring at 7 AM. What!? I like music but it’s so out of place here.
Nice park with trails through a beautiful forested area. The bulk of the trails are within a fairly steep hill, so you need to be able to make that climb. By the parking lot are a pool and pickleball/tennis courts.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
