Confirmed from 14 Tram Trail Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about 14 Tram Trail Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (50 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“Surprisingly pretty views for a trail so close to a city, so if you're looking for something scenic and on the shorter side, I very much recommend it.”

I had a great experience. Be warned if you're out of shape like me, the full 14 tram trailhead is intense and steep. However, there are plenty of spots to stop and rest. Saw a few people quit at the halfway point. Now that I've got the bad out of the way... the views are amazing and worth the effort!

It's a pretty great trial, there is lots of parking to go there, trail isn't too steep and had some lovely views of the area

★★★★☆ — Ian , May 2020

Great practice hike for our 50 mile excursion this summer. The middle section is steep enough that we had to pause and rest a few times. I liked that in the morning we were still in the shade for a good while. And all the other hikers were super friendly.

The route I took I got from a book about different trails in the Boise area. Started at the trailhead that's across the street from the golf course, and did a loop that was about 2 miles in distance.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
