Confirmed from Assabet River Rail trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking, biking and walking trail, with paved and flat sections.

“Lovely easy trail, mostly flat.”
I love that this rail trail has so much paved ground, it's something the other local ones are lacking and makes the world of difference when pushing a stroller. Great balance of sunny and shade on the trail, Porta potty available on trail if needed. Only downfall I found was the lack of designated parking lot.
Very beautiful trail that's almost completely flat, clean, and well maintained. Nice place for a stroll and pretty trees. A few short side trails that can be fun to poke around in.
Very pretty, flat trail. A few road crossings but for the most part u can commune with nature. Only complaint - I wish it was longer!
It was a nice easy riding rail trail. The only downsides is there is lots of intersections to cross.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
