Confirmed from Big Gulch Trail System's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Easy trail with so many mushrooms and slugs to find with a sharp eye.”

Once your down the long staircases, it’s a great trail through the forest. Round trip it was nearly 4 miles of thick forest, nice trails with the sound and sight of the creek throughout the trail system. A bit muddy here and there but not bad. The trails not flat nor is it very steep.

Fun, light to medium trail with some beautiful views of the Gulch. I wish there were views of the sound but still a super fun little hike.

★★★★★ — Steve , Jul 2022

Many entrances, especially from the rich suburbanite golf ball holder’s club (Harbour Pointey) Muddy from the beginning and sometimes feels artificial. Okay. When you get into the thick of it it becomes nicer. It is less muddy as you go on. Nice, and also has many vertical slopes down. Nice.

Amazing time for outdoor lovers. Easy trail with so many mushrooms and slugs to find with a sharp eye. Will definitely come back.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
