Confirmed from Brandywine Falls Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Brandywine Falls Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (183 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 14 mentions

“Trail to the falls is easy and on a boardwalk—very nice, several STEEP steps to the lower lookout for the best view, but the accessible trail gets you a great view too!”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“It's almost completely shaded by tree canopy.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Very easy hike, but there's a good amount of stairs that are steep at points.”

If you're wanting to see the waterfall it's a very short walk (5-10 minutes) from the parking lot, you don't need to hike the entire loop. It's almost completely shaded by tree canopy. There is a steep staircase to get to the bottom of the falls but that's about the most strenuous part of the hike.

Limited amount of parking, but there is constant turnover, at least during the week. One picnic table. Very clean restrooms with running water. Trail to the falls is easy and on a boardwalk—very nice, several STEEP steps to the lower lookout for the best view, but the accessible trail gets you a great view too!

Moderate loop trail, just over 1 mile long. The boardwalk to the falls is gorgeous, but slippery during the winter. Further on the trail, the views of the river and bridge are simply beautiful.

★★★★★ — Aditya , Dec 2024

Did the hike clockwise and would rate an easy moderate at 1.7 miles total for us. Dog friendly and almost all in the shade. Some stairs going down the gorge and roots/rocks coming out. But after the 1.5 inches of rain the day before, trails in great shape and the falls running strong.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
