Dry, golden hills, soft curves, thirsty for rain. Hot, steep. Carquinez Strait, far below. Shades of blue, silver blue in distant Suisun Bay. Oak woodland, deep rooted, Laurel canyons, welcome shade. Hiked after at the Martinez Sunday farmers’ market, worth a visit. Buy fruit, coffee, bring water.
It's a really enjoyable and scenic paved trail along the coast with great views along the Strait. After some downpours in the morning, I saw the biggest rainbow that I've ever seen. No designated parking but plenty of places along the road to park.
My gosh. This place is gorgeous! A lot of trail options available. Free parking. Free admission. Easy access just outside of downtown Martinez. The hike really hit me hard today.
This is a fantastic trail for bike or on foot. Lots of nice views of the strait Benicia and Vallejo can be seen across the strait. Port Costa is a short ride after the trail. Benches along the way to take in views, picnic or rest. Porta potties in a few places too. Beautiful fog today.
