Confirmed from Chipp-A-Waters Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Very nice area to walk alongside the Chippewa River. This is a well trafficked area. You can expect walkers, dogs, runners and bicyclists. The paved concrete paths make for smooth, easy walking and are wheelchair friendly. There is also a dirt trail towards the end of the park that goes out and around.

Walking over the bridge at Chipp-A-Waters Park feels as though I’ve entered a most enchanting aviary! The way that the songs of birds bounce off from the river and trees is entrancing and relaxing. The park is clean, with family friendly walking trails.

I was up north on vacation and it was another hot day. So I Googled walking trails. This was a nice place. There's a large paved trail if you need that. With benches occasionally. The others are dirt trails. Very wooded. The river comes up often. It's a pretty good fast flowing river.

This is a wonderful hiking trail/park that all ages and physical ability can partake in. I was visiting the area from the U.P. and discovered this is a great gem within Mt. Pleasant. The interactive QR scan for audio voiceover regarding the trail, wildlife and trees is a nice touch.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
