Confirmed from Island Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Leisurely, clean park with a splash pad and a climbing structure, plus a playground and a 'slide farm'.
What runners say about Island Park
“The maintenance employee was there turning on the water, and mentioned they were getting ready to clean up the area.”
“The river walk was beautiful, and there were so many bridges as we crossed over the river numerous times, we lost count!”
We were visiting from out of town, and found these two parks next to each other, connected via a paved walkway around/over the river. It was very peaceful, and we saw people with their dogs, people jogging, people on bikes, as well as others just walking around like we were.
beautiful park, with lots of amenities that are well-kept and clean. the chippewa river winds around the park, creating a very unique experience on the walking paths!
Beautiful trails to walk through the woods along the riverside, awesome spot for photos
Nice park, even in the cold. The playgrounds are awesome. The trail along and across the river is pretty - paved and accessible. Lots of sports fields. I am guessing it is really busy in warmer months. The Michigan Vietnam Veteran Memorial is also quite nice.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
