Confirmed from Dale's Ridge Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

We came to hike the trail. We were blessed to see Bill Brobst sharing his historical knowledge of the property and were able to enjoy a tour.

Great place to walk. Very beautiful views from the hill. We saw a turtle on the path. A carefully made brochure with a route map and description can be taken at a stand in the parking lot.

★★★★★ — Renata , Mar 2019

This is a nice trail only minutes away from Lewisburg. It is a clearly marked and well-maintained trail. Depending on which way you go to get to the loop, the trail is fairly easy. If you start on the trail that goes along Buffalo Creek, there will be a short section with a steep incline up some switchbacks.

★★★★☆ — Sharon , Jan 2023

A beautiful trail located just minutes outside of Lewisburg, the Dale’s Ridge Trail runs for over 2 miles along a lime bluff over looking the scenic farmlands along Buffalo Creek. There is a very short section of switchbacks to get on top of the ridge from the trail following the creek.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
