UPDATE: Following the DCCP closure last August due to the Quarry fire, the park partially re-opened May 15! Full opening scheduled for August 1. Breathtaking views of the Denver skyline, the Front Range and the Hogback to the east, the Rockies to the west. Stay on the trails!
This is my favorite place in the front range to trail run. Beautiful all times a year. Challenging to run every time. Can make a nice 13.1 mile course that covers just about every trail. Also can make a nice 2 mile loop that has a scenic view of the city. Park rangers are very helpful and friendly.
Neat area to hike. It’s great for LONG hikes. Went on the Polymouth train and it was decently steep inclines. If someone is unable to do high inclines, I would suggest another trail. The paths themselves are very nice and well kept. I went on a very nice day in January but that meant it was busy.
One of my favorite local hikes. You can make it mellow and do the Meadowlark loop or you can make it more substantial by exploring the trails. Make SURE you take a map at the trailhead because it starts getting confusing. It’s lush and green, not too busy trail.
