We came across this little Gem on our way back from visiting some trails close by. It was like finding a secret hidden place that no one knew about. The trail was easy, peaceful and beautiful. After walking a short 10 minutes, you end up on green grass with the sound of a rushing river just ahead.
This is one of my favorite places to hike with the dogs. It's gorgeous and a good place for moderate but not strenuous exercise. There are picnic tables, interpretive signs, and a visitor center. Every trip here requires a visit to the banks of the White River to check the seasonal water level changes.
Magical is how I describe it. As you enter the woods you are surrounded by very tall pine trees that sway slowly as the wind goes through them. They are covered by moss and the park also has signs describing what you are seeing and easy trails that bring you to White River. Easily you can spend an afternoon here.
Wonderful trail but be careful not to trip from the roots of the trees. Old growth forest with the sound of birds chirping all around. It feels like you have the whole forest just for yourself. It doesn't feel crowded. It has nice paid parking lot. Note: dog owners please clean up after your dogs!🙏
