Confirmed from Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
444-acre forest, lake & wetland refuge with an extensive trail system & many birds, including owls.
What runners say about Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve
“Beautiful old growth forest with some huge douglas fir & cedar trees, & tons of beautiful moss growing everywhere.”
“The trail was well-marked and suitable for hikers of all skill levels.”
“The scenery was breathtaking, with lush forests, serene streams, and picturesque views along the way.”
Easy hiking (more of a walk, really) in the quiet woods. Also great for walking dogs, though I saw several folks ignoring the leash law. You can tell masks are becoming more of a policy than a rule up around Seattle, especially in outdoorsy locations.
Love this park & trails! I've been here a few times in the past but today I did a long 7.2 mile hike beginning from Lynnwood Center and thru the nature preserve that was awesome! So much to explore here & always nice & quiet. The few people we passed were super friendly & nice & dogs were on leashes.
Beautiful old growth forest with some huge douglas fir & cedar trees, & tons of beautiful moss growing everywhere. If you do the main trail & loops you can squeeze out a little more than 6 miles with around 800 ft elevation gain going up & down the hills & mounds.
We loved the hike. It took a couple of hours to go from the north end to the south and on to Peter's trail down to the shore. We took an uber to the trailhead because it is very remote. There was a lot of shade with all the tall trees, so it was relatively cool even in the middle of the day.
