Confirmed from Goldsmith's Inlet Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Calm sandy beach, known for its views of Long Island Sound and for fishing.
What runners say about Goldsmith's Inlet Park
“You get a beautiful beach, the inlet really looks like a big lake and you get a nice wooded area with plenty of walking trails.”
“Fantastic and peaceful beach in Long Island at New York.”
Nice place to stop for a leisurely walk. I would not call this a hiking spot. It's just walking in the woods and by the inlet. There are a few small hills but quite easy to navigate through. The views are quite nice by the water with the animal life around. We saw multiple Osprey flying overhead.
It's just perfect! If you park on soundview avenue (only for Suffolk county residents) you get to experience the nature trails, the inlet and the beach is maybe a 5-minute walk but it's absolutely worth it.
Nice short nature trail leading through the woods to beach to inlet and then alongside the pond. Beach is typical rocky LI Sound beach with shallow inlet separating it from town beach.
A truly magical spot on the North Fork of Long Island !! Our friends live around the corner so every time we visit them we take a walk over to the inlet.. It’s a great place for the kids to play and explore nature.. Having said that, keep a close eye on them when the tide is going out!!

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
