Confirmed from Gordons Pond Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“A really accessible trail that is appropriate for all ages.”

This trail is within Cape Henlopen State Park (fee to enter). It’s a couple of miles long and can be accessed from different points. It’s probably best suited for bikers, and you’ll encounter a lot of them on the path, but it’s still a nice easy stroll. A lot of direct sun. Nice scenery!

Absolutely incredible trail. I loved my bike ride on the trail. The gravel is crushed and fine mostly. Some larger gravel passes. I have to go back. Oh, there is a board walk and it's incredible. The views are awesome. Wildlife, plains, plants. A must see.

This is a beautiful trail. Crushed stone but very rideable. Plenty of wildlife and nature. There is water, bathrooms and air/bike tool station at the trail head

★★★★★ — Joe , Aug 2022

A really accessible trail that is appropriate for all ages. Mainly used by bicyclists and can get decently congested at some areas. Nothing technical here, it's all flat and makes a great cruise Plan to bike for 10-15 miles ‼️

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
