Confirmed from Gordons Pond's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I love this part of Cape Henlopen! Wonderful walking or biking trail, lots of birds and a great beach. You might even see President Biden if you're lucky.

Secluded state park with clean beaches and great trails and bike path, lookouts and scenic nature. Entry fee: $5 for in state residents, $10 for out of towners

This beach was nice and not super crowded. It’s $15 to park during the week but with every penny. The beach itself isn’t rocky or shelly so walking around is pleasant. The sand is soft and overall, the beach was clean. The parking lot is large and there are also foot washing/ shower stations.

★★★★★ — Jillian , Aug 2024

A wonderful place for a walk, run or bike ride. Several opportunities to take a swim in the ocean along the way as well!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
