Confirmed from Ma & Pa Heritage Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Nice local trail that is great for the whole family. Great trail for walking, jogging, and biking. The dogs love the trail as much as their owners. There are benches to take a rest or just take in the beauty around you, the trail is nicely shaded.

A scenic and beautiful trail, walkable all seasons of the year. I started walking this trail when it first opened decades ago. It’s beautifully maintained and evolves with the times.

★★★★★ — Ashleigh , May 2023

This trail is relaxing. Mostly paved and gravel. Can easily do 7 miles max or cut it down to 2 to 3 miles. Not a looped trail. It's out and back. Excellent all seasons. My favorite time is fall. You can be chatty on the trail with others or just focus on your hike and walk in peace.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
