Confirmed from Manassas National Battlefield Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Smaller but well-maintained battlefield. Start at the visitors center to pick up a pamphlet of the Battlefield and speak to the knowledgeable Park personnel who can answer any questions. An introductory movie plays in the hour in the visitor center.

A truly moving and educational 5-star experience! The Manassas National Battlefield Park is a phenomenal place to spend the day, and it felt like we were walking right through history. The staff is welcoming and informative, and the visitor center provides an excellent foundation.

This was a great place to spend a morning. Less than an hour from downtown DC, depending on traffic. Well presented and cared for. We love being outside so the information plaques around the field were very useful.

★★★★★ — Teresa , May 2025

What a great place to get exercise, immerse yourself in history, and enjoy nature. There are 2 major trails ranging from 5-6 miles. You can combine them for an entire day walk/hike. They are easy to moderate. There are a few side loops to be able to see more historical structures.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says

  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
