Confirmed from McCowin Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about McCowin Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (798 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“This is for sure one of the cleanest and well kept park I've ever been to!”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“However, despite the long drive and the disappointment with what we ended up seeing, we weren't expecting all the lights and the beautiful Christmas tree.”

One of the better places to take my 18 month old during summer. Many places to play. An update here 4 years later. Still a great place for kids to play. I think the wood chips need to be swapped with something more kid friendly.

★★★★★ — Julieanne , Jun 2022

McCowin Park is a fantastic community space with something for everyone. The park is spacious and beautifully maintained, featuring large open fields perfect for soccer, multiple well-designed playsets for kids, a fun splash pad, and a refreshing swimming pool during the summer months.

Pumpkin walk was fun so many wonderful creations. Really cool themes very fun for the whole family.

★★★★★ — C , Oct 2021

This park is very well maintained. Swimming pool, splash park, disk golf. Tennis courts and a walking path, it is about a quarter of a mile long. Paved path and wheel chair accessible. Awesome place to go. Lots of room for children to run and just have tons of fun.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

💡 Lit for night running 3 mentions

“I gave four stars, because the overall experience was fantastic, but the village had mostly little elf looking houses that had lights, but only one display with windows and elves.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
