Confirmed from Mount Falcon Park East Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mount Falcon Park East Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (845 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It’s clean and well maintained however, and very easy to go around the noobs who overestimated the elevation and had to pull over.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“We went counter-clockwise and had a beautiful view of the moon to start and then of the sunrise at the top of the ridge!”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“There was a good amount of shade but I would avoid on very hot days or in the middle of the day as there were long sections without shade.”

Stunning views in every direction! Song birds sang to me. Magpies guided my hike. Every person (and dog) I met was very friendly. I took the turkey trot trail. As a flatlander visiting the mountains, the incline needed respect and some breaks. But it got easier as the hike continued.

Nice trail not too far from Denver. It has different trails, prepare for the elevation. It’s a moderate since you are going up to the top. Once you get to the top the views are great!

★★★★★ — Mp , Nov 2022

Great trail, it’s a little over 3 miles to get to the “castle ruins.” It’s all uphill, so beware if you’re new to the area and think “oh, this will be a nice and easy little jaunt!” Wrong. You’ll be out of breath real quick.

I have visited the Mount Falcon Park West Trailhead several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. This was my first trip to the East Trailhead. Truth be told, I have been lazy and avoided it because there is a 2000 foot gain in elevation approaching from this side. I should not have let it delay my adventure.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
