Confirmed from Ocean Hammock Park Walkway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Ocean Hammock Park Walkway
“Small beachside park with clean accessible facilities, a walkway that takes you over the low spots adjacent to the beach.”
“Although your view of the beach from the walkway is obstructed, the walkway ,trees, vegetation and gorgeous million dollar mansions are worth the trip”
“The parking lot provides lots of shade and it’s about a half mile walk to the beach from there.”
“Want a nice quiet cool place get away from crowds in St Augustine and waste an hour or two?”
Parking is free, so that's a big win with me! There were plenty of spaces when I went (on a Thursday afternoon). There's a boardwalk that goes down to the ocean. It's not terribly long, so it should be manageable for most people. There are a few benches built into the boardwalk in case you need to rest along the way.
Beach access off the beaten path. There's a very nice boardwalk out to the beach here. No frills (i.e. bathrooms, showers..), but much less crowded than the main pier beach access. Highly recommend for a peaceful experience. Plus, there's a little inlet for the littles to splash in.
This is a popular access to the beach opposite the shopping center at the south end of the Anastasia Beach community. There's a small parking area & gravel road in serious need of grading, as it easily becomes filled with pools of all sizes after a rain (hence the one star debit).
Wonderul shady nature board walk with swamps, plants, birds and flowers leading to the beach.Beautiful, wide clean beach, buildings are set very far back. Well maintained, police patrol. Only drawbacks are cars are allowed on the beach and no lifeguards. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Plenty of free parking.
