We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Padre Canyon Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Padre Canyon Trailhead
“Other than that, it’s a quiet, scenic, very enjoyable hike relatively close to town.”
This is such an underrated hiking trail! The hike starts right inside the Tuacahn parking lot, there’s even a sign on the side that makes it very easy to locate the trailhead. The hike itself is generally pretty easy. Some mild elevation gain, but not so rapid that you feel like you’ll die from the climb.
Hands down one of the best hikes in Ivins. Not sure how I’ve just discovered this but so happy we did. Parked at Tuichan visited the flea market then off we went. It starts out easy peasy but quickly takes a pretty serious steep. At times felt like we were bouldering to get to the top.
What a cool place - the beauty is beyond... Took Baz in the early afternoon - easy parking. Took a few to find the trail - you can go through the reg trail and a wash. Lots of doggies many off leash running the lower path. Everyone got a kick out of Baz posing. Easy enough hike and well worth it.
This is an uphill hike (going in) that might seem strenuous in the heat. We made it to the top in just under an hour after a few wrong turns. Would have liked to continue down into the valley on the other side, but we were limited on time.
Trail conditions & character
“You can see the general direction as it's a canyon, but we had to climb up and over boulders to get back to the main trail.”
