Confirmed from Park Point Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Park Point Recreation Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,612 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Beautiful and clean beach, don't know why I saw that it was dirty, didn't find one piece of garbage or plastic.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 13 mentions

“Scenic, natural, and filled with opportunities to learn and explore, this park is definitely worth a visit if you are in town and arguably worth the trip if you are not.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 10 mentions

“Year round its a fascinating place, so quiet & peaceful & always the sound of waves lapping, ice crunching, soft breezes.”

This is one of my favorite locations to visit, not only in the Duluth area but in general. The sprawling beach stretches out in all directions as the lake crashes on the shore (or the ice, depending on the time of year!).

This beach is beautiful. You should drive until you're not allowed to drive any further on the island. It has a very long sandy beach that you can walk along. The water can be calm to swim in or it can be very wavy depending on the weather. When we went in July it was very quiet with very few people visiting it.

Beautiful long hiking trails in the woods and on the beach. You have a beautiful view of Duluth, the light house, ships, and the Wisconsin side at the end of the beach. Pleasant views and a good work out even in winter.

We had an amazing time relaxing at Park Point Beach. The parking lot was free and had many open spaces. It was a short walk from the lot to the lake. The sand was soft and comfortable to walk on barefoot. We loved sitting in the sand and watching my youngest daughter play in the waves.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
