Confirmed from The Duluth Lakewalk's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Promenade connecting lighthouses along the shore of a large lake in a park, with views of passing ships.
What runners say about The Duluth Lakewalk
“The Lakewalk is beautiful spot to spend the evenings, watching the boats and vessels go by, the panoramic views of the lake, the moon rising over the waters on the best evenings.”
One of Duluth's best places to see if you are from out-of-town, one of the best places to come relax, take a walk, have a picnic or just some peace and meditation!
First time to see any of the Great Lakes and they did not disappoint! Nice walk out to lighthouse, the lift bridge is very cool. Great views! Definitely worth the trip!
Come during sunset for amazing views. We really enjoyed our time walking around here and people watching. It was very nice.
Simply a scenic area along Duluth's Lake Superior coast. Great for walking, hiking, skateboarding, cycling, dogs and more! Having been severely damaged in a 2017 storm, The Lakewalk has been under heavy reconstruction; however, the portions that are open already look terrific.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
