Confirmed from Phil Hardberger Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Great for all levels of play and clean bathrooms both portable and a facilities.”

Wonderful nature preserve in the heart of San Antonio. Great for walking and running, obviously weather dependent, but even on scattered showers the paths were not muddy, and the aggregate was well drained, minus one spot.

This is a hidden gym of a park in the middle of a city. It is part of the greater Greenbelt Trail that connects many parks. The park is busier than most parks on the weekend. There’s places for moderate hiking, biking, walking and birdwatching there are restrooms and learning opportunities along the way.

Large, beautiful park with plenty of trails varying in degrees of smoothness and lots of wildlife to spot throughout. Came through mid January so I'm looking forward to making a second trip during the Spring/Summer.

If you want to experience a wide array of fauna and flora this is an excellent little oasis in an urban environment. So accommodating. Great facilities as far as restroom and places to sit and relax. Very family friendly with well maintained trails and well marked.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 9 mentions

“Tons of walking paths and an open field with hay men art to run your kids or dogs.”

Plan your run at Phil Hardberger Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
