We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Runyon Canyon Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Runyon Canyon Park
“Highly recommend this trail if you love beautiful scenery, a bit of solitude, and the magic of being surrounded by nature.”
“Paved incline fire roads for easy trail or dirt with root/wood stairs.”
One of my absolute favorite trails! The views are absolutely breathtaking—especially during golden hour. It’s the perfect mix of peaceful nature and a good workout. Every time I hike here, I feel grounded and refreshed. Just a heads-up: you do have to stay alert for coyotes.
Beautiful park to run at sunrise, maybe even better at sunset. Paved incline fire roads for easy trail or dirt with root/wood stairs. I went past the park to Mulholland Dr but it meant sharing the road with cars, no sidewalks. In the park there were drinking fountains (some better than other) and scattered benches.
Been there many times. along and across. Alone and with different people. Good trail. They it 🙃Don’t like dust my sneakers after hiking there though
Amazing place, took my dogs for a short hike for a nice view. Can get crowded and like the rest of the city, parking is tough. bring some water!
