What runners say about Saddle Peak Trailhead
This is one tough hike. Shaded except for the last 1/2 mile, but hot and steady climb. Bring plenty of water and sunblock. You’ll not see the Pacific and LA Basin until your at the top, but the views all the way out to Catalina are majestic.
Have put in at this trail entry for hikes to both Saddle Peak (take a left at the nearby Backbone Trail junction) and to the Backbone/Piuma junction (take a right at the Backbone Trail).
There is no parking lot, but you can park along the road. There is access to the Backbone Trail.
Fantastic well shaded hike w excellent views. The trailhead marker on google is accurate in terms of where to park. When you get there, walk downhill about 100 yards and you’ll see a sign for the Backbone Trail. It is not immediately visible from where you park.
