Confirmed from Stunt Ranch's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great place to start a hike in the area, with lots of options and access to Red Rock, Cold Creek, Saddle Peak, Topanga Lookout, and the Backbone Trail. Photos are from some recent hikes on the Backbone Trail between Stunt, Piuma and Saddle Peak.

If you have binoculars and a thirst for bird watching, this is the place! There are a lot of signs indicating where specific birds tend to be nested. And it's true! It's like a zoo but without cages! It is a very chill hike, very dry even when it is 65F. Cloudy but still makes for plenty of sunshine.

Such a beautiful hike! The views are breathtaking. The hike itself is moderate with steady incline all the way to the peak. The beginning of the trail runs along a stream which is so lovely to listen to and there is some shade at the bottom of the hike but as it progresses, there is less shade.

There are two trails (one to the left of the [street]parking towrd ocean and one the right side). We chose the left one. we were exposed to sun for the most of the time. If you are going for a hike in a hot summer day be sure you have enough water with you. There is a rock looks like an animal. I love it.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
