Confirmed from Severson Dells Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve featuring wooded trails traversing bluffs, prairie and a creek with Dells.
What runners say about Severson Dells Nature Center
“Beautiful trails, fun play area with natural elements, pollinator garden, went Sunday morning and it wasn't very busy.”
I went with a stroller and 2 young kids. The paved trail was nice, easy, and not too long. There weren't many other people during the evening on a weekday. Good place for exercise.
This is small park but it has some unique landscape along its creek forming Dells. A portion of the trails leaving the nature center are paved and they stay within the confines of a small wooded area. Further on the trail becomes natural, more hilly and heavily wooded.
A nice park preserve nestled just outside of town enough to get away for the sounds of the highway, but be close enough to still be convenient. If you are hiking make sure to get a COLOR map to follow the correct trails!
Maybe there was a main entrance sign saying so? But I didn't realize it was a dog free property until I was already walking, just wish they made a bigger deal somewhere on here on their Google. Went to Funderburg 5mins away instead 🐕 To respond to their response, I totally get it!

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
