Confirmed from Shuman Point Hiking Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Nice moderately easy trail along the lake and theough some mature forest.”

Enjoyable trail that follows the lake for a good portion of the way. Few spots to go by the water. Very rocky (all areas) with some inclines but doable for anyone in moderate shape. I am currently 7 months pregnant and was able to navigate/balance well with walking sticks. Great workout for me!

Early June hike with the 6 year old. Really nice 3 mile long loop trail located near Hawley/Woodloch Resort. Dense woodland, lots of ferns, a few mushrooms and some newt/salamanders. The lake comes right up to the tree line along the trail so there is no beach area or large opening.

★★★★☆ — Randy , Jun 2025

A nice easy hike with lake views. You can hear the traffic at the start of the hike but eventually the sound falls away. The paths were fairly mucky in spring, unsurprisingly, but easy enough to detour around. The cool breeze off the lake was a delight. We enjoyed the views of the lakes and walking in the woods.

★★★★☆ — Don , Mar 2021

The trail is really nice, and not too difficult. Had some nice views of the lake.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
