Confirmed from South Ravine Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Wooded green space featuring meandering hiking paths and a lake, plus the First Bride's grave.

What runners say about South Ravine Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (79 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful park, lovely wildlife and scenery.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Most of the trails are a bit steep, so if you want a very easy walk, skip this area or take your time.”

Really neat area with some great trails. Most of the trails are a bit steep, so if you want a very easy walk, skip this area or take your time. The First Bride Gravesite - easy to find. Go over the bridge to the right up the stairs and keep going right.

I wonder how Rosalie Menard Leonais would have felt about being called the First Bride? Her mother was Native, and certainly was a bride long before Rosalie was, making Rosalie the first bride only from a somewhat racist point-of-view.

A fun way to spend an hour with my kiddo… getting a little fresh air and exercise plus exploring a bit of history in our area. I was glad to have read online reviews that said to take a right each time we had a choice on the trail in order to reach the First Bride’s Grave.

Great place there is a nice lake as well as great hilly terrain that all ages can hike and have fun, this may not be for everyone but all the people we met there were very nice and cordial

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

⛰️ Hills / elevation 7 mentions

“Now there are rough steep steps, and a steep dirt path weaving up and over the bluff, and for someone my age it is still a notable accomplishment to get there.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
