We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of VanGundy Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about VanGundy Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (9 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Beautiful view of the Mississippi, particularly after sunset and during the full moon.”

I love this River Way Trail just outside Bettendorf, IA but in the Riverdale area. Nature trails like these are appreciated because of their maintained asphalt walkway. Great for walking, hiking, running, and biking. There are shady areas perfect for getting out of the sun.

★★★★★ — Diana , Jul 2024

This trailhead has easy access to both the Duck Creek Trail and the River Front Trail and both are great to ride! Road crossings are easy with plenty of trail underpasses. Both trails pass through lots of parks and have great views.

★★★★★ — Dave , Jul 2024

Trail runs all the way from State Street in Bettendorf all the way to West Davenport. There is a small waterfall about a quarter mile from the trailhead at State Street. Follows Crow Creek along its way. Can be busy at times bikers runners and dog walkers.

★★★★★ — Benfromiowa , Apr 2024

The trail is well maintained and easy to navigate with plenty of nice stops along the way. It is multi use trail so caution for bikes, children and dogs.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
