Compared to other local parks this one probably has the most varied landscape. Definitely the only place I've seen in town that offers forest trails. The Eagle Scout and the Fort Leonardwood to Fort Riley Military Road Memorial trails begin behind the Arby's. The former snakes up the hill and out of the woods.
I've played many rounds of disc golf here and walked portions of the trails. Everything is pretty well maintained. The open space where the DG course is is on a high point for Manhattan, so it has some nice views. There is a covered picnic area too.
Although this is a lovely place to go for a walk or a short hike. It would be nice to have some of the trails maintained better. I'd recommend coming here on a day that's cool.
This is a fantastic nature Park as my family have come to call these areas. On the western side of the park is a short wooded trail, and then a large field to run around in , and a disc golf course. This is a great place to take kids that can walk, 3 years old and up would likely enjoy themselves without much worry.
