Confirmed from Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Green space with a scenic lookout at 1,629 feet, plus picnic areas & a Douglas fir woodland.
What runners say about Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint
“Thos state park has some incredible views, a clean restroom facility.”
“The viewpoint gives you a wide open, scenic look across the valley, and the curvy road leading up to it makes the drive just as enjoyable as the destination.”
“Its quiet , clean , and not crowded.”
Exactly as described. This is a viewpoint. This small park has some conveniently located picnic tables, a beautiful view to the west, and some short (informal, unmaintained) trails through the trees. This is not a dog park. It's not a children's play area.
Beautiful place in our own backyard and we are all running to Rome, Tokyo, Paris, London! I rode my motorcycle up there this week. Having lived in Portland for four decades I didn't know about this place! Well, Chat GPT wasn't born when I moved to Oregon! So, off I go to Bald Peak. Loved it.
We actually drove up here twice! The first time, it was cloudy, so there wasn't much of a view, but what we could see made us excited to see it all. We came back on a sunny day and the view was breathtaking. It's actually a little state park, so there are bathrooms, tables and some rugged waking trails along the ridge.
The only time this place ever gets busy is at sunset , because they are stunning! And only a short walk to the viewpoints , where you can watch the sun set behind the coast range in spectacular fashion. Bring your cameras . Its quiet , clean , and not crowded. Been coming here for 35yrs now. I recommend it !
