Confirmed from Herbert Hoover Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Herbert Hoover Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (279 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“It's a beautiful Park I won't doubt that but what makes it extraordinary is it has a old fashioned frisbee golf course inside of it.”

Beautiful and awesome park. It is a steep walk down into the central area, but worth it. The kids park area is great. The ground was hot when we were there but the slide and play structure was not, which was something we were worried about. 7yo rated it a 10 out of 3, whatever that means.

I brought my wife and son to Herbert H park and had a great time there. The park has an obstacle on the kids playground that spins around. It’s not a Merry go ground but it spins around and you can run on it. It’s hard to stay on it because sits at an angle. It’s quite a task to try to run on it.

Love this little park. Clean, fun and a nice little hike/walk after the playground. Walk was a bit muddy, so prepare if it’s been overly rainy, but nothing some boots can’t handle next time There were a few teens taking over the playground around dusk which was a little uncomfortable with my 4yo, however, they’re kids…

Awesome park for disc golf! Don't let the short 9 holes fool you, they are up steep hills, down ravines, through thick foliage and over a creek. My group and I had a blast out there! There are no bathrooms in the park but there are lots of public places within a half mile you can go.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
