We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Butterfield Peaks Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Mountain hiking and biking area with a variety of trails, plus scenic views.

26Sep25 Finally made it back to hike up to Kelsey Peak today. Wow. Hard hike. Almost 9 miles and some steep uphill/downhill both ways. But for the fall colors, this hike CANNOT be beat. Great place for some fall hikes if you like colors.
Hands down one of my favorite hiking areas near the SLC valley so far! There is a lot of flora variation along the several pathways you can take, and the Aspen groves to the south of Kelsey peak are nearly UNBEATABLE!
These trails were under construction in 22/23, and are mostly complete. There are 2 large parking lots, ample road parking, and a variety of trails. The trails are flowy for mountain biking, shaded for hikers, and are perfect for most activities. Don't bring horses on these trails.
One of the best hikes I’ve done. Loop was 7.2 miles. Took 4 hours. Crazy 34° winds at the peak felt like 0° in my tshirt. Arms went numb. Didn’t expect that mid June. Wouldn’t take little kids. The grove is unforgettable! If you bring a lunch, eat it there.
