Confirmed from Hewen’s Creek Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Quiet park featuring miles of trails for hiking, biking and dog-walking, as well as a pond.
What runners say about Hewen’s Creek Park
“Please clean up after yourself.”
“We had a wonderful evening walking along these gorgeous trails.”
“The only downside I would see his at the trails are not clearly marked so you don't know where you're going on which direction you're going.”
“I hiked over 3 miles using the yellow and orange trails, and had a peaceful & enjoyable time.”
“Mainly used as a hiking trail, but hikers and dog walkers will find plenty of space to do their thing”
We had a wonderful evening walking along these gorgeous trails. We will be back again. It’s lovely, quiet, nature is beautiful.
Gorgeous park and trails. Whether you want a relaxing walk or want to hit the bike trails. Just don’t forget the bug spray.
We were looking for a new place to hike and didn't know this place existed and were very pleasantly surprised to see so many great plants! The park badly needs invasive species management (especially of the celastrus orbiculatus) before all of the lovely native species get overrun.
I hiked over 3 miles using the yellow and orange trails, and had a peaceful & enjoyable time. It was muddy in spots, but that is to be expected on a warm winter day. Overall, the trails were nice; winding with lots of towering trees. I would like to try fishing in the big pond (or is it a small lake?).

“Hewen's Creek is a tucked-in park that feels more like a local spot than Rolling Hills, which is right around the corner.”
“There's not much parking at the area that I'm at and you can probably only Park maybe five cars in this little small area.”
“Other than that it seems nice safe clean and it'll be a nice place to go for a bike ride or for a nice hike walk with your dog”
“It was muddy in spots, but that is to be expected on a warm winter day.”
“I did feel the trails were not very well marked and kind of ended up going on a trail that I didn't mean to.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
