Confirmed from Rod & Gun Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“This is a place where I find quiet solitude in the midst of the city somehow away from the bustle and hustle daily life”

Beautiful park year round. Lots of ponds and stone pathways. The park is located right off of Chippewa river. There are Pavillions, lots of shade, public restrooms and views for days. Great place to walk dogs and for families! Also great for photography!!

Moms! This is a great little park! So quiet. By the water with a creek running thru and bridges to sit on and waterfalls. The kids loved the walk with the stairs and all the water and I got a walk and didn't stand by the playset. The playset was really nice and plenty of mulch on the ground.

So beautiful .went walking with my daughters while visiting with my family

Nice little park up above HALF MOON LAKE. there is a paved wslking/bike trail between this park and the much larger Carson Park which is also on Half Moon Lake. If you are walking you can opt for the boardwalk instead, which takes you much closer to the lake.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.

  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
