We hiked some of all the trails today. The Eagle Scouts have done a great job! The story trail is neat. Dogs are allowed on leash. The park is quiet and serene. Picnic tables are provided as well as a shady gazebo and a portopotty. The trails are narrow so our group walked single file.
A lovely area for a walk and a hike! Very peaceful with a lot of interesting native plants. They had areas where they were taking measures to remove the highly invasive Japanese Knotweed. Having this stuff on my property in Gales Ferry I know how difficult it can be to eradicate from an area.
Trails are mildly maintained, but is mostly single file throughout and difficult to hold hands with young children should they need it or be their preference. Not jogging stroller friendly. The story walk is cute, but sunfaded and obviously not switched out with the seasons.
I like to go here occasionally just to sit and enjoy the area. There's plenty of shade, the pond is calming and there are some nice trails. It's well kept and has a now flower garden area. I've seen people fishing in the pond. I don't know what kind of fish is in it but they seem to be enjoying themselves.
