Confirmed from Salt Lake Valley Overlook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Great trail that is easy to navigate.”

This trail is a fairly easy 5.3 mile hike. The trail is in great condition. It is a great trail to bring families or hike with your dog. The overlook at the end was spectacular.

Dogs are off-leash on odd-numbered days, which some may consider hazardous, but I enjoy the thrill of potentially being knocked down the mountain by a beautiful pooch. Lots of cute dogs out and about! The trail is pretty narrow, and there’s certainly elevation change, but the hike itself is not too challenging at all!

Great hike. Animal poop bags everywhere along the trail. If you’re going to leave the bag behind does it really make sense to clean it up?

★★★★☆ — Kayci , Jun 2023

It's a wonderful hike. Took around 1 hour 6 mins to climb to this overlook point. It's so clean and Serene. We took pictures at the rocks near this overlook point. It's beautiful. This hike can be easily completed till early November. After that it would get quite challenging with the snow.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“A little bit narrow so passing can be a little difficult but no crazy difficult incline and most people of good fitness should be able to handle this without any issues.”

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
