Confirmed from Trout Run Nature Preserve Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Trout Run Nature Preserve Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (21 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“A very peaceful place to be alone.”

I've hiked thousands of miles, and this hike is still worth the visit. I always enjoy mountain top views, but a cold brook has its place inside me. This one in particular is home to native trout; a rare find in Lancaster county. Also it's sheltered from the wind, so it's perfect for those blustery days.

Great evening hike in Summer or Fall. It's proximity to to Enola Low Grade trail makes it a cool spot to potentially spend a day with the family or a couple. Not great for biking though. And getting here from the Enola LG trail is steep and can be hard for some people.

Amazing hiking area. The only downer is the trail could of used better design in spots. It’s a tad too steep in one area, and the trail has an area where you walking on slanted sloppy rocks on the side of a small cliff.

Loved the hiking on this portion of trails. Good and level, well maintained, clean, and not over run with traffic. Good for biking or hiking to be sure. Easy access and parking available. Check it out sometime when you are in the area. I hear there are some exceptional views that you will take in in the fall.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
