Confirmed from Steinman Run Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve featuring a scenic hiking trail that's suitable for kids.
What runners say about Steinman Run Nature Preserve
“Beautiful trail, albeit a little short, with some pretty steep sections that made it feel a bit challenging.”
“Other than that beautiful and very well marked trail.”
Beautiful trail, albeit a little short, with some pretty steep sections that made it feel a bit challenging. Well maintained and easy to follow the route. It's a loop, so you don't have to worry about turning back at any point. Bonus - if you go now (June 2021) you can see tons of the Brood X cicadas!
Really nice walk in the woods. Occasionally along and over a steam. Steep elevation changes. Only reason it is 4 stars is because right across the street is Trout Run and that preserve is amazing.
Great place for a moderate to hard hike. Wear good boots and maybe bring hiking poles
First off, this review is really for "Trout Run Nature Preserve", which is just across Stump road from the Steinman Run Nature Preserve, which I have not yet visited. I recommend parking in the Steinman parking lot and then walking West a few hundred yards to the entrance of Trout run (North side of Stump road).
